Itinerary:  Alaska's Inside Passage + Denali

Our small ships take you into the hidden nooks and crannies of Alaska's Inside Passage. You explore the natural highlights between Ketchikan and Juneau at leisure, marveling at humpback whales in Frederick Sound, cruising within earshot of sea lion colonies sprawling on the rocks, and edging close to cliffside rookeries where murrelets, puffins and other seabirds nest. Add on a visit to spectacular Denali National Park as an added bonus.

Day 1 : Arrive in Ketchikan and Set Sail

Transfer to your ship to begin your cruising adventure. D

Day 2 : Misty Fjords, Metlakatla

Visit magical Misty Fjords with its steep cliffs, narrow waterways, and awe-inspiring stillness. Make a port call at Metlakatla on Annette Island, Alaska’s sole Tsimshian community. BLD

Day 3 : Petersburg

Enjoy a warm welcome at the fishing village of Petersburg, a true cannery town. The Leikarring Dancers perform for you in the Sons of Norway Hall. Explore wilderness waterways around Petersburg, like the iceberg-filled Thomas Bay. BLD

Day 4 : Fredrick Sound and Tracy Arm

Humpback whales abound in Frederick Sound. Cruise under Tracy Arm’s sheer 1,500-foot vertical cliffs toward the twin Sawyer Glaciers. BLD

Day 5 : Sitka

Only small ships can negotiate Peril Strait and Sergius Narrows, the “inside” route to Sitka on Baranof Island. A guided walk through Sitka’s National Historic Park reveals towering totems keeping watch over the forest. You may see playful otters, Sitka black-tailed deer, and eagles. BLD

Day 6 : Glacier Bay Cruising

Glide through this wonderland approaching up-close to the “rivers of ice.” A National Park Service Ranger is onboard helping you spot mountain goats, harbor seals, and brown and black bears. BLD

Day 7 : Skagway and Haines

Relive the Gold Rush in the picture-perfect setting of Skagway, the starting place for many early gold seekers. Just down mountain-lined Lynn Canal visit Haines, famed for attracting artists and for its concentration of bald eagles. BLD

Day 8 : Arrive in Juneau

Spend the day exploring Alaska’s capital city, inaccessible by road. Overnight at the Goldbelt Hotel near the waterfront. B

Day 9 : Fly to Anchorage

Transfer to the Juneau Airport for your included flight to Anchorage. In Anchorage, transfer to the Sheraton Hotel.

Day 10 : Anchorage to Denali (via motorcoach and rail)

Your Exploration Leader will accompany you to Denali National Park and Fairbanks. Board a motorcoach to travel through scenic wilderness areas paralleling the Susitna River and the Talkeetna Mountains. In Talkeetna, board a deluxe domed railcar to continue your journey toward Denali National Park. Take in the sweeping views as you cross Hurricane Gulch and Broad Pass. Stay overnight at a Denali hotel. BD

Day 11 : Tundra Wilderness Tour

Denali National Park’s wild landscape is the natural habitat of bears, Dall’s sheep, moose, and many other mammals. Catch views of Mt. McKinley, the highest peak in North America. Optional adventures include flightseeing by helicopter or bush plane, whitewater rafting, float trips, and more. B

Day 12 : Denali National Park to Fairbanks (via motorcoach)

Drive to Fairbanks, the northernmost Alaskan city, 125 miles from the Arctic Circle. Sightseeing features a delightful riverboat excursion on the Chena and Tanana Rivers and a farewell dinner at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge. BLD

Day 13 : Transfer to Fairbanks Airport

When producers of the Kevin Costner film "Wyatt Earp" were seeking a turn-of-the-century steamer to carry their hero north to the Gold Rush, they were delighted to find our Spirit of '98. Though she boasts all modern amenities, she was designed to emulate an early-20th century coastal steamer complete with carved wooden cabinetry, plush floral upholstery and a Grand Salon complete with a player piano, plus a full bar with old-world charm.

A luxurious Owner's Suite occupies three rooms on the top deck, including a living room, king-size bed and full bathtub.

A 100 sq. ft. One double bed, TV monitor/VCR and large view window. Cabins 320-319 have a slightly different layout.	AA 100 sq. ft. Two twin beds, TV monitor/VCR and large view window. Cabin 311 features one double bed. Cabin 211, 213, 214, 309 and 310 feature two twin beds that convert to one queen bed.
