Our small ships take you into the hidden nooks and crannies of Alaska's Inside Passage. You explore the natural highlights between Ketchikan and Juneau at leisure, marveling at humpback whales in Frederick Sound, cruising within earshot of sea lion colonies sprawling on the rocks, and edging close to cliffside rookeries where murrelets, puffins and other seabirds nest. Add on a cruise to Prince William Sound and a visit to spectacular Denali National Park as an added bonus.
Day 1 : Arrive in Fairbanks
Transfer to Pike’s Waterfront Lodge. Meet your traveling companions and your Exploration Leader for a casual wine and cheese reception.
Day 2 : Fairbanks to Denali National Park (via motorcoach)
Sightseeing includes an authentic sternwheeler cruise and lunch. Travel by motorcoach to Denali National Park and overnight at a Denali hotel. BL
Day 3 : Tundra Wilderness Tour
A driver guide from the Park helps you look for moose, grizzly bears, caribou, Dall sheep, and more. B
Day 4 : Denali National Park to Anchorage (via motorcoach)
Board a deluxe domed railcar to journey to Talkeetna. Travel by roomy motorcoach to Anchorage. BD
Day 5 : Transfer to Whittier
Travel by motorcoach along scenic Turnagain Arm. Pass through tunnels under the Chugach Mountains to the port of Whittier. Board your ship to begin your Prince William Sound exploration. BD
Day 6 : College Fjord
Dozens of glaciers tumble from the steep walls of College Fjord. Explore scenic and narrow Esther Passage. BLD
Day 7 : Chenga Glacier/ Knight Island
Far from civilization, explore wilderness waterways and forested islands. Watch for sea otters, orcas, and seabirds along the shoreline of Knight Island where large ships can’t navigate this maritime maze. BLD
Day 8 : Return to Anchorage (via motorcoach)
Admission to the Alaska Native Heritage Center is included, as is a delicious dinner at the Sheraton Hotel. BD
Day 9 : Leisure day in Anchorage
Take some casual time to explore this city. B
Day 10 : Fly Anchorage to Juneau
Transfer to the Anchorage Airport for an included flight to Juneau. On arrival, transfer to the Goldbelt Hotel. B
Day 11 : Sail from Juneau
Take advantage of one or more of the optional activities available in Juneau. Board the ship to begin your cruise. D
Day 12 : Skagway and Haines
Relive the Gold Rush in the picture-perfect setting of Skagway, the starting place for many early gold seekers. Just down mountain-lined Lynn Canal visit Haines, famed for attracting artists and for its picturesque beauty. BLD
Day 13 : Glacier Bay Cruising
Glide through this wonderland approaching up-close to the “rivers of ice.” A National Park Service Ranger is onboard helping you spot mountain goats, harbor seals, and brown and black bears. BLD
Day 14 : Sitka
Only small ships can negotiate Peril Strait and Sergius Narrows, the “inside” route to Sitka on Baranof Island. A guided walk through Sitka’s National Historic Park reveals towering totems keeping watch over the forest. You may see playful otters, Sitka black-tailed deer, and eagles. BLD
Day 15 : Fredrick Sound and Tracy Arm
Humpback whales abound in Frederick Sound. Cruise under Tracy Arm’s sheer 1,500-foot vertical cliffs toward the twin Sawyer Glaciers. BLD
Day 16 : Petersburg
Enjoy a warm welcome at the fishing village of Petersburg, a true cannery town. The Leikarring Dancers perform for you in the Sons of Norway Hall. Explore wilderness waterways around Petersburg, like the iceberg-filled Thomas Bay. BLD
Day 17 : Misty Fjords, Metlakatla
Visit magical Misty Fjords with its steep cliffs, narrow waterways, and awe-inspiring stillness. Make a port call at Metlakatla on Annette Island, Alaska’s sole Tsimshian community. BLD
Day 18 : Arrive in Ketchikan
Transfer to the airport to return home. B

When producers of the Kevin Costner film "Wyatt Earp" were seeking a turn-of-the-century steamer to carry their hero north to the Gold Rush, they were delighted to find our Spirit of '98. Though she boasts all modern amenities, she was designed to emulate an early-20th century coastal steamer complete with carved wooden cabinetry, plush floral upholstery and a Grand Salon complete with a player piano, plus a full bar with old-world charm.
A luxurious Owner's Suite occupies three rooms on the top deck, including a living room, king-size bed and full bathtub.
