Destinations : Alaska
Activities : Nature Viewing, Photography, Whale Watching

Day 1 : Arrive in Juneau

Transfer to our Goldbelt Hotel hospitality suite in preparation for your cruise. The hotel’s waterfront locale is a perfect base for exploring Alaska’s beautiful capital city. Accessible only by air or sea, Juneau sits in a rainforest with the Mendenhall Glacier in its backyard. Begin your cruise.

Day 2 : Icy Strait - Captain's Choice

The annual summer conjunction of currents, bottom topography, and tidal energy causes an extraordinary bloom of plankton to occur. This bloom creates a biological richness that attracts humpbacks and other marine mammals like sea lions and seals. Captain’s Choice cruising may also include inflatable excursion craft outings or bow landings from the Spirit of Glacier Bay, to look for wildlife like brown bear, Sitka black-tailed deer and wolves in the old-growth forests of Sitka spruce and western hemlock. You may also see playful otters, and bald eagles. BLD

Day 3 : Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve

Enter a 3.3-million-acre nature wonderland where a National Park Service Ranger will come onboard to offer information on the flora and fauna of this impressive region. Over 200 species of fish are found in Park waters, including all five species of Pacific salmon. About 220 species of birds have been recorded in the Park as well as large populations of land mammals. Have your binoculars and camera with you on deck as the Ranger helps you look for mountain goats, brown and black bears, coyote, wolverine, moose, harbor seals, puffins, and murres. BLD

Day 4 : Disembark in Juneau

Disembark in Juneau. If you have time before your flight we’ll give you ideas for exploring this interesting capital city. Optional excursions include a rainforest hike, Mendenhall Glacier tour, or glacier flightseeing. Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. B

Ship Description: Spirit of Glacier Bay

The Spirit of Glacier Bay is one of the newest additions to our fleet. After a few seasons of exclusive sailing along the eastern seaboard of North America, she is now sailing the stunning waters of Alaska's Glacier Bay area.
The decor is sleek, stylish, and quietly elegant with light wood accents. The Observation Lounge features expansive picture windows, a video and lending library, plus cozy banquettes and conversation circles for getting to know your fellow travelers.
Every stateroom features a wide picture window or porthole, private facilities, a writing desk and ample storage. And when it's time to go outside, guests enjoy generous outside space on the bow and aft decks.

Built in 1984 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, by American craftsmen, the Glacier Bay Clipper’s power is provided by two Detroit diesel propulsion engines rated approximately 500 SHP each, and maneuverability is increased by a 200 HP bowthruster. The ship is equipped with an Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System (ECPINS). This system combines navigational data on one screen and meets the stringent requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It was among the first cruise ships to be equipped with this advanced system.
